What are your business hours?
Mon – Fri: 7 am – 5:30 pm Saturday: 7 am – 3.00 pm Sunday: 10 am –3.00 pm
What's the ratio I should use for my 2 stroke machinery?
We like to use 25:1 (25 parts petrol to 1 part 2 stroke oil) but most 2 stroke machines can run at up to 50:1. The best petrol to use is regular unleaded, high octane fuels do more harm than good to power garden machinery.
How do I reload my whipper snipper head?!?!
This is a common problem and we're happy to show you. Just bring down the whipper snipper and one of the staff will take you through it.
Hire
Do I need to book before hiring?
Bookings are welcome and will guarantee the machine you want is here when you want it. Just call during business hours to book - 9836 0971.
I don't have a trailer, could I borrow one?
Yes. We can supply you with a trailer if the machine is too big for your car – and they're complimentary! Just make sure you have a tow ball.
Do you deliver/pick up?
Yes we do - but contact us in advance. There is a delivery charge that depends on the distance needed to travel and we'll give you a quote when the machine is booked.
How long can I hire machinery for?
You can hire machinery for a minimum of 24 hours (e.g. Pick up at 3pm one day, bring it back 3pm the next day). Each additional day is charged at the same rate. Our mowers can be hired at a 4 hour rate of $28.
Can you show me how to use the machinery?
Of course. We provide a full run-through on all our machinery handed out by staff.
What ID should I bring when hiring?
Usually a drivers license is sufficient, however on larger machines we may also require a credit card swipe.
Do you require a deposit when hiring?
No. All machines can be hired without leaving a deposit.
Sales
Do you sell large area mowers?
Yes, in many shapes and sizes. Come in and talk to one of our knowledgeable staff to get the best machine for your property.
Can you assemble the machine for me?
Yes. We assemble, test, tune and run all new machines to make sure you've got the quality product expected from Dawn Mowers. Many also come with a complimentary first service!
Do you sell second hand mowers?
Yes. These are very popular and quality machines don't pop up very regularly. If you are interested we can place your name on a list and give you a call when one is availability.
Do you do trade-ins?
Yes. You can trade your old mower on a new machine. Our staff must inspect it first before it can be accepted.
Is Dawn Mowers as cheap as the larger gardening stores?
Dawn Mowers only stocks high quality products that may be a little more expensive but very worthwhile when it comes to long term cost benefits, ease of use, parts availability and after sales service.
Repairs
How much will it cost to get my mower, chainsaw or whipper snipper repaired?
This will vary depending on the machine and the problem. For estimated prices please refer to the repair and servicing information sheet.
How long does it take for my machine to be repaired?
In most cases it will be within one week. We keep thousands of parts on site however sometimes must be ordered to suit specific machines. This, or a higher than usual number of repairs, can delay getting your machine fixed. When your machine is booked in feel free to ask us for an approximate completion date.
How often should I get my mower serviced?
Around every second year is sufficient if it's not getting used more than once a week. How do I know my machine is ready to pick up? As soon as your repair is completed we will call you. Please feel free to ask us any questions you may have about the repair.
